Indigenes of Keimoes and Upington areas of Northern Cape province in South Africa have given an order to all foreign nationals including Nigerians to vacate their territory.
Resident in South Africa’s Keimoes and Upington areas of Northern Cape Province gave foreign nationals 12 hours or latest January 10, 2020 to leave.
This statement was disclosed by the President of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Adetola Olubajo on Thursday in Lagos, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Mr. Olubajo said that after the horrific incident, the community members of Keimoes and environs went on rampage burning and destroying properties belonging to foreign nationals, Nigerians in particular.
But Police promptly intervened on Thursday morning. The intervention brought about calm but the situation is still tensed.
Olubajo also said that police arrested some locals some for public disturbance and malicious damage to properties.
He said that They appeared in a magistrates’ court on Thursday morning for bail hearing.
