Nigeria close to Olympic qualification as D’Tigers defeat South Korea

Nigeria D’Tigers won South Korea by 108-66, close to secure Tokyo 2020 olympic ticket.

D’Tigers of Nigeria has won South Korea at Wuhan sports centre at the ongoing 2019 FIBA basketball world cup in China on Wednesday.

 The game started on the favor of Nigeria as D’Tigers lead with a few points.

Michael Eric also showed class when he provided a 6 straight point for his team.

Nigeria leads by 17 to 15 at the end of first quarter.

D’Tigers continues dominating as fantastic finish from Al-Farouq Aminu gave the side a leading point.

It was a sparkling moment for Nigeria as Joshua Okogie Added 12 points that made Nigeria to lead Korea by 33-20. A clean 12 points lead.

Michael Eric and Ike Diogu later provided classic points for the team.

Back to back three from Chimezie Metu rendered Korea team helplessly as D’Tigers leads by 32 points.

Nigeria D’Tigers eventually leads 108-66 points at the end of the game.

After that, Nigeria guard, Vincent Nnamdi expressed happiness for the team win. He said it was a big win for the team. There was excitement in the camp because of the victory.Both players and fans were happy for the win over korea.

The win over South Korea has brightened Nigeria hope for qualification of Olympic game in Tokyo next year.

D’Tigers victory today is thus recorded in the history of Nigeria basketball as the best and highest margin victory against a non- African team.

Nigeria finished third on group B after a loss to Argentina and Russia in the group games.  

D’Tigers will now know their fate as the team will head to Guangzhou for classification round 17-32 games.

On the other hands, D’Tigers also has a chance of automatic qualification as the best African team in the tournament  because Tunisia lost to Puerto Rico by 67-64 points.
