Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has said that Youth can offer a wide pool of talents that is pivotal for developing digital resources and driving technological advancement if they are trained.
The Minister made this statement on Tuesday when he presented the new DEEL ( Digital Skills Entrepreneurship, Employment and leadership Training) for Youth at Africa Youth Month in Abuja by the African Union, themed ”One Million by 2021- Count me in”.
“Developing countries remain a massive part of the untapped market for the digital economy. If trained our Youth offer a wide pool of talents suitable for developing digital resources and driving technological advancement”, Sunday Dare said.
He added that the initiative will help youth to develop their digital skills for employability.
“We intend to keep the Nigerian Youth productively busy through Digital Skills acquisition, Entrepreneurship, Employment & Leadership Training, (DEEL)”
DEEL initiative aims at providing the Youth with digital and entrepreneurial skills.
He further said that Nigeria will depend on the youth for economical development rather than Oil.
“Nigeria Assets will no longer be oil but the Youth”, Dare said.
The minister also urged Nigeria and Africa countries to train youth who are leaders of tomorrow.
“Except we train our youth today, they can’t be leaders of tomorrow”.
