Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Security, Police Affairs and Boundary Matters has urged Police to intensify efforts at their duty during Christmas season.
The committee made the request when they paid a private visit to State Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang in his office at Amawbia on Friday.
The purpose of the visit was to commend the force for being alive to their responsibilities to the state according to Mr. Onyebuchi Offor, the chairman of the committee.
On his remarks, a member of the committee, prayed the police to increase their surveillance, especially at banks to avert bank robberies.
The committee also urged the police to be sensitive about any emergency that might occur during Christmas in order to avoid loss of life and property.
The force were also urged to deploy their men to busy area of the state, especially at Onitsha Bridge Head in order to help curb traffic jam throughout the Christmas period.
Commissioner of Police Mr Abang who was represented by Deputy Commissioner, Mr Chris Owolabi, expressed his gratitude to the state government for provision of crime-fighting equipment as effort in fighting crimes in the state.
“The equipment enabled the police to maintain adequate protection of life and property in the state.
“The police will address all teething issues raised by the committee in the interest of safety in the state.
