Gunmen attack FC Ifeanyi Ubah teams on the road

One of Nigeria football club, FC Ifeanyi Ubah teams were said to have been attacked by armed robbers along Kabba Road near Lokoja in Kogi State, according to Sahara Reporters.

The club management stated the Armed robbers who attacked them dressed in NYSC uniforms when the team players were travelling to Kano for their scheduled NPFL matchday 6 fixture against Jigawa Golden Stars.

“This is to inform the general public that at about 1:30pm today, players of FC Ifeanyi Ubah travelling to Kano for their scheduled NPFL matchday 6 fixture against Jigawa Golden Stars ran into a group of armed robbers dressed in NYSC uniforms near Lokoja in Kogi State.”

The gunmen shot the driver to death while some members of the coaching crew and players sustained injury at the scene.

The club therefore, urged the Federal and state government, Nigerian Football Federation and League Management Company to take fast action in combating criminals particularly along the road as well as strengthening and providing massive security in the country.
