The Federal Government of Nigeria has given license to six modular refineries to start operations in the country, Daily Trust reports.
This was discosed by Mr Edobor Iyamu, who is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Niger Delta Affairs on Tuesday in Uyo during a Dialogue on “Critically Appraising Mechanisms Used To Transfer Benefits of Resource Extraction to the Niger Delta Region”.
The establishment of the refineries was as a result of federal Government efforts to develop local content in the Niger delta.
Mr. Edebor said that federal government had fulfilled its promise by ensuring that the refineries were given licenses and also encouraged to start operation.
He also hinted that the federal government had also provided conducive environment for investors to open modular refineries in the country with an approved zero duties on modular refinery facility.
