The Court of Appeal has uphold the election of Chief Emeka Ihedioha as the governor of Imo State.
The Court of Appeal presided by Justice Oyebisi Omoleye delivered the judgement on Tuesday.
Three Politician parties which include the Action Alliance (AA) , All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and All Progressives Congress (APC) Filed an appeal against PDP – Ihedioha after he was declared the winner of IMO State Governor.
The Candidates from three opposition party who challenged election of Ihedioha as governor are Ifeanyi Ararume of APGA; Uche Nwosu of (AA) and Hope Uzodinma of APC.
The appellants challenged that Emeka Ihedioha did not get the required one-quarter of the votes cast in at least two-thirds of the 27 local government areas of the state, as provided under Section 179 of the Constitution. They therefore petitioned the court to void the election and declare a rerun.
