Prestigious Nigerian – born author, Chimamanda Adichie, has received a UN Global Leadership Award.
She received the award on November 20 by United Nations Foundation, Vanguard reports.
Chimamanda Adichie was recognised for fighting for gender and racial inequality with literature.
The honour was bestowed by the United Nations Foundation on November 20.
Chimamanda is the first Nigerian and youngest African to have received the award.
Before Adichie, previous honorees of the award include former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Kofi Annan.
It was gathered that Adichie was honoured by international organisation Equality Now on November 21 at the annual Make Equality Reality Gala in New York City, USA.
Other honorees who had previously received the award include former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Others are Oprah Winfrey and Kofi Annan.
