Anambra State Government has promised to help the affected victims of ochanja market fire disaster.
This was observed when Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Commerce, Mr Uchenna Okafor gave the assurance to Ochanja Market fire victims at the office of the market chairman during his visit to the market.
He said “Ochanja traders voted governor Obiano and he has promised to sort things out in a way that will favour every one of them. The governor will also take care of roads and the fire service stand at the same time.”
He also said that the governor has already set up an enquiry committee presided by Deputy Governor to help ensure the victims get their needs before Christmas period.
On his remarks, the general president Anambra State Market Traders Association (ASMATA), Mr Ikechukwu Ekwegbalu said “know everything that was discussed with deputy governor when he visited the market and I wish that this will be implemented.”
The president also urged affected traders who have not submitted their names to the works commissioner as directed by Government to urgently do so.
On his speech, Mr. Chinedu Okonkwo who is the Chairman of affected victims expressed happiness toward the kind gesture from the government.
Okonkwo said “All the people that visited did not come to us. We don’t know if some were here for campaign or not. However, we know those that gave us money and those that did not give”.
